Information transmitted automatically

As soon as you access the www.lieutenant-gouverneur.qc.ca website, information is automatically exchanged between your computer and the server that hosts the website. In accordance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, the government department or body that requests personal information from you must ascertain the need to collect such information (section 64), identify itself, and inform you (section 65):

  • of the name and address of the public body on whose behalf the information is being collected;
  • of the purposes for which the information is collected;
  • of the categories of persons who will have access to the information;
  • of the fact that a reply is obligatory, or that it is optional;
  • of the consequences for the person concerned or, as the case may be, for the third person, in case of a refusal to reply;
  • of the rights of access and correction provided by law.

If you opt to submit to us personal information by completing a form on the Lieutenant Governor of Québec’s website, we will only use the information that serves to respond to your message. Electronic messages are handled under the same confidentiality measures as those applied to regular mail.

The personal information transmitted is not communicated to another government body unless your request is addressed to the body, or such transmission is required by law. The information collected is not under any circumstances used to create user profiles and is not sent to any private organization.

The Lieutenant Governor of Québec’s website proposes links to other Québec, Canadian, and other government websites, and to certain websites of private organizations. Such websites appear in a new window. Consequently, the information exchanged is no longer subject to the privacy policy of the Lieutenant Governor of Québec’s website, but to that of the new website visited.
