

The Honourable Pierre Duchesne was born in La Malbaie on February 27, 1940. His father Lorenzo Duchesne, now deceased, and his mother, Anne-Marie Bouchard, today 91 years of age, had 10 children.
In 1955, His Honour entered Chicoutimi’s Seminary where he completed his classical course and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Continuing his academic formation at Québec’s Université Laval, he completed a law degree. Acting as a notary in Sept-Îles he then entered the National Assembly of Québec in 1974. For the next 10 years, he occupied many functions, becoming General Secretary of the National Assembly in 1984. After retiring in 2001, he acted as a special counsellor to the National Assembly until 2003.
During his career at the National Assembly, he regularly gave speeches to professionals’ associations. He also published articles about parliamentary procedure and administration in specialised magazines including one on the subject of security in Parliaments.
He directed a collective publication entitled La Procédure parlementaire du Québec and is the author of Règlement annoté de l’Assemblée nationale.
While living in Sept-Îles or in Québec City, he was socially engaged in many governors’ boards for hospitals, chambers of commerce, sports and leisure clubs and other community and/or non-profit organisations such as the Club Richelieu.
He is also an officer of the Ordre de la Pléiade.
On June 7th, 2007, he was sworn in as the 28th Lieutenant Governor of the province of Québec.
Their Honours, the Honourable Pierre Duchesne and his wife, Ginette Lamoureux have three children and seven grandchildren.
Born in Sainte-Rosalie 30 January 1942 and a graduate of Business Studies in La Malbaie in 1959, Ms. Lamoureux was married to the Honourable Pierre Duchesne in 1963. They are the parents of three children and grandparents of seven grandchildren.
During this period of life shared between the family and volunteer work, Ms. Lamoureux has assisted her husband in his many business while participating in many social and sporting activities under various titles. Returned to school in 1985, graduated in office / computer, she worked part time for the University Laval in several faculties to finish his career as a project assistant at the Centre for International Health and Development (CCISD).
Active member of several charitable organizations, volunteering in all forms has occupied a large place in his diary, travel and reading have filled his curiosity sports (tennis, skiing, golf in particular) have helped to maintain his fitness and has gained notoriety in cooking, knitting and more recently, pottery fills his spare time to his second home in L'Isle-aux-cranes. It remains available at all times for the guarding of his grandchildren each of which, "Grandma" is unique.
The new role of "joint 28th Lieutenant Governor of Quebec" occupies much of his time now. Like her husband, she hopes to do what is necessary to serve its citizens with all the energy we know it. She chairs the selection committee for seniors to obtain the medals of Lieutenant-Governor. She was recently decorated Officer of the Order of St John of Jerusalem.
