Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal

To be eligible, students must:

• Be 25 years old or younger
• Be resident of Québec
• Be enrolled in a
  • Québec public or private high school, cegep, or university recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, des Loisirs et du Sport;

  or

  • vocational education centre under the jurisdiction of a school board and recognized by the Ministère
• Be capable of attaining the objectives of their  program of studies
• Have demonstrated self-sacrifice and the ability to surpass themselves through tangible commitment within their school or community
• Be recommended by the principal of their educational institution

The following administrative requirements apply:

• The number of Lieutenant-Governor’s Youth Medals to be awarded is determined according to the following table and must absolutely include an equal number of women and men from each educational institution (applies only to coeducational institutions):

High school	2 medals
Vocational education center	2 medals
Cegep	2 medals
University	4 medals

 

• A person cannot receive more than one Lieutenant-Governor’s Youth Meda during
  his or her lifetime;

• Lieutenant-Governor’s Youth Medal may be awarded posthumously.

Procedure

• A member of the institution’s teaching staff designated by the principal must complete the online form and justify the choice of each student by writing, in the space provided,
  a text of up to 250 words describing the candidate’s achievements and the context in which he and she has demonstrated self-sacrifice and the ability to surpass him- or herself.
• The Lieutenant Governor reserves the right to refuse any nomination.
